Lincoln County hurricane guide¶
Lincoln County Emergency Management, part of county Emergency Services in Lincolnton, protects residents from natural and manmade disasters and coordinates response and relief. This is an inland Piedmont county with no storm surge evacuation zones. The county sends alerts through Lincoln County Alerts (Smart911) and says it will notify residents by telephone of local weather threats. The county keeps a voluntary Special Population Registry that lists hurricanes, floods, and blizzards among the disasters it covers.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Lincoln County does not publish a list of open shelters in advance. The county says that in a disaster, shelters may be held at any of the county's fire department stations, and that you will be notified of the shelter for your area. Do not go to a site until it is announced. The county also says it will notify residents by telephone of local weather threats.
