Port Aransas hurricane guide¶
Port Aransas is on Mustang Island, a barrier island in the county's Zone A1, where hurricanes bring storm surge, flooding, and destructive wind. The TxDOT ferry to Aransas Pass runs only when weather permits, so plan your route off the island early. The city has its own police department, emergency management coordinator, and natural gas utility.
