Allendale County hurricane guide

Allendale County Emergency Management (listed on the county site as Emergency Preparedness) is at 426 Mulberry Street in Allendale. Allendale County lies along the Savannah River in the Lowcountry and is far enough inland that it is not in a coastal evacuation zone, but it can see flooding, wind, and tornadoes from tropical systems. The county site does not publish evacuation or shelter plans, so call the office for guidance.

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Allendale County does not publish a shelter list or plan on its website. Call Allendale County Emergency Management at 803-584-4081 and listen for local announcements during a storm.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
