Cary hurricane guide¶
Cary is a large town in Wake County, with a small part in Chatham County. Heavy rain, flash flooding, high winds, and falling trees are the main hurricane dangers. The town has its own police and fire departments and runs the water and sewer system.

What to know in Cary¶
- Cary sends its emergency alerts through ReadyWake, for residents in both the Wake and Chatham County parts of town. In bad weather, keep 911 for threats to people or property and call 311 for everything else.
- Call 311 to report downed trees in the street, high water in the street, downed power lines, sewer spills, and water main breaks.
- Yard waste is picked up weekly on garbage day. Cut limbs to less than 4 feet long and less than 4 inches across. Pickup days may change after a major storm.
