Elizabeth City hurricane guide¶
Elizabeth City is on the Pasquotank River near Albemarle Sound, so river flooding, heavy rain, and wind are its main hurricane dangers. Pasquotank-Camden Emergency Management plans for storms in the city. The city runs its own police, fire, electric, water, and sewer services.

What to know in Elizabeth City¶
- The city's evacuation plan for the Oxford Heights neighborhood says it has only one road in and out, Providence Road off US 17, and that heavy rain and hurricanes have flooded the area and closed that road for long periods. If you live there, plan to leave early.
- Changes to trash pickup because of bad weather are posted on the Public Works Facebook page and the EC Live app. Regular limb pickup takes limbs less than 4 inches across and less than 8 feet long, stacked at the edge of your property.
