Frederick County hurricane guide

The Frederick County Division of Emergency Management coordinates the county's emergency management programs, including planning, hazard mitigation, and preparedness training. Frederick is an inland county with no Know Your Zone evacuation zones. The division sends emergency alerts through AlertFC.

Evacuation centers

Open only when announced

Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.

Frederick County's emergency management page that was reviewed does not list shelters or say how shelters are announced. Sign up for AlertFC and call the Division of Emergency Management at 301-600-6790 for local guidance.

Cities and towns

Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
