Port Barre hurricane guide¶
Port Barre is a small town on Bayou Courtableau in St. Landry Parish, inland from the coast, where flooding and wind are the main hurricane dangers. The town has its own police department and runs its own water, natural gas, and sewer systems. St. Landry Parish Fire District No. 2 provides fire protection.

What to know in Port Barre¶
- In June 2026, when Bayou Courtableau was rising, the town passed on parish warnings that homes next to the bayou, including East and West Courtableau Roads, Bayou Drive, and Rayne Road, should prepare to evacuate. It asked residents to report water rising onto their property and posted updates on its website and Facebook page.
