Jefferson County hurricane guide¶
The Jefferson County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, in Louisville, plans for tornadoes, flooding, and ice storms and keeps an Emergency Operations Center and an emergency operations plan. The county offers CodeRED alerts and a Notify Me system for county news.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Jefferson County's emergency management pages describe planning and preparedness and do not publish a shelter list. Check CodeRED alerts, and do not go to any site until the county announces it.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
