Heard County hurricane guide¶
Heard County uses the CodeRED by Crisis24 emergency notification system and urges residents to sign up. The state lists the county's local emergency management agency at 11816 Highway 100 in Franklin. County pages do not publish a separate EMA page, so call the county 911 dispatch non-emergency line for questions.

Evacuation centers¶
Open only when announced
Evacuation centers open only when officials announce them, and not every center opens for every storm. Check the official list of open centers before you leave home. Bring your own bedding, food, water, and medicines.
Heard County does not publish a list of designated shelters or a shelter page on the pages checked. If an evacuation or shelter is announced, the county says it will use its emergency alerts, so sign up for them and check the county website. Do not travel to a site until it is announced as open.
Cities and towns¶
Each city has its own services and some have their own alerts. The county's evacuation zones, evacuation centers, and emergency alerts cover everyone, in every city and in unincorporated areas.
