Calera hurricane guide¶
Calera is a city in southern Shelby County, and part of it is in Chilton County. Storms that move inland can bring heavy rain, flash flooding, high winds, and tornadoes. The city has its own police department and runs its own water, sewer, and natural gas systems.

What to know in Calera¶
- If you smell gas, leave your home right away without turning any lights or appliances on or off. Once you are outside and away from the smell, call the city's gas line at 205-668-3500, answered 24 hours a day.

- Calera Natural Gas Department: City-owned natural gas system. Report a gas smell at any hour from outside, away from the building. Phone: 205-668-3500. Website.
- Calera leaf and brush collection: Request a brush pickup online. Stack limbs with the trunk ends toward the street. The city says it can change this policy after a natural disaster to meet immediate needs. Website.
