What to know in Leon Valley¶
- Flood sirens at El Verde Road and the Public Works building on Evers Road warn of flooding. A 90-second rising and falling signal means flooding is possible: get ready to leave if you live in a flood-prone area. A steady three-minute signal means flooding is about to happen: leave flood-prone areas now. When the sirens stop, the danger may not be over. Sirens are tested at noon on the first Wednesday of each month.
- Flood barricades and gates on Evers Road and Poss Road are closed and locked during flash floods. Never drive around them. Report problems with the barricades to the police right away.
- The city may warn residents by Reverse 911 calls to a selected area, by the flood siren, or by police, fire, or public works staff going door to door.
